StyleLex Product Guide

For those who are undertaking projects that require Water-proof cabinetry and kitchen doors for covered outdoor areas, StyleLex is a flexible system suitable for a range of applications. Based on a range of surface finishes including matte, woodgrain and matte finishes, StyleLex uses a laminated polyurethane (PUR) reactive hot melt bonding system that offers a number of benefits over traditional wood or timber finishes, including weatherability, stain resistance, ease of cleaning, hygiene, UV protection, as well as minimal maintenance. For these reasons, many can benefit from using StyleLex in projects.

We will be exploring everything you need to know about utilising StyleLex for applications, including design guidelines, fabrication guidelines, care and maintenance.

Implementing StyleLex

Here’s everything you need to know about StyleLex Waterproof cabinetry, fabrication guidelines, care and maintenance for effective implementation.

What is StyleLite?

Carcass panels are the core of the system, and consist of ABS laminated to a Weatherproof Composite Core (WCC), which can be used for cabinet, kickboards, and base frames. StyleLex face panels use a similar construction to carcass panels, but instead of ABS, they use a weatherable HPL that is laminated to the Weatherproof Composite Core (WCC). To complete the StyleLex system, edge banding is used on doors and gables to complete the cabinetry.

Fabrication Guidelines

StyleLex panels can be fabricated using conventional decorative panel woodworking equipment, making it incredibly easy to create and implement. For maximum durability, StyleLex panels should be edged around the whole perimeter, and the for the best edge band adhesive, PUR adhesive technology is suggested. Not requiring any specialist equipment, StyleLex panels can be drilled, screwed and glued using the same techniques as other wood core panels.

Care and Maintenance

With proper care and maintenance, StyleLex products can last for many years to come. To clean StyleLex surfaces, a clean, damp microfibre cloth and warm soapy water is recommended rather than using harsh chemicals. For grease or more stubborn marks, mild household cleaners can be used on face panels only, whereas on carcass panels, a 70/30 mix of soapy water/vinegar can be used.
